Padang Aro, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The production of dry unhulled rice in South Solok District, West Sumatra in 2017 increased to 147,747 tons compared to 2016 which amounted to 140,312 tons. Despite increased production, but the target of 152,191 tons was not achieved.

"Although the grain harvest increased in 2017 compared to 2016, but the realization is still below the target set," Head of South Solok Agriculture Service Tri Handoyo Gunardi stated in Padang Aro, Wednesday.

In 2017, South Solok rice production target is 152,191 tons while the realization is 147,747 tons or 97,08 percent of its realization.

In addition to the target of planting and harvest in 2017 is also under the target.

The target for planting in 2017 is 27,773 hectares, while the realization is only 27,342 hectares or 98.45 percent.

As for the target of harvested area 27,762 hectares of 27,330 hectares or only 98.44 percent realized.

The low realization of rice target of South Solok occurred in Sangir Balai Janggo Sub-district which is the center of plantation in that area.

Realization of harvest and unified production in Sangir Balai Janggo only 74.44 percent of the target so that it affects the overall achievement.

In addition, in Pauah Duo Sub-district, there is also a relatively low land area of only 85.84 percent.

In the Pauah Duo Sub-district was affected by a major flood in early 2016 that damaged farmland.

While in the sub-districts that become rice producers such as Koto Parik Gadang Diateh, the production achievements during 2017 reached 111.64 percent.

Besides Sangir Sub-district, the production reaches 103.66 percent and Sungai Pagu 104.01 percent of the target.
