Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The price of red chili in Padang Municipality, West Sumatra is Rp48,000 per kilogram or it experiences an increase about Rp4,000 from the previous.

"Since December 2017, the price of chili rose slowly from Rp36,000 per kilogram to Rp42,000, then Rp44,000 and currently Rp48,000," one of chili traders in Raya Market Padang, Anto T (47) stated in Padang, Tuesday.

According to him, the price increase is not too expensive, but if it rises more than Rp50,000, then the price of chili can be said to be expensive.

He explained that the price hike is triggered by the depletion of stocks in Padang in supply from Medan and Java.

"Usually it happens because of bad weather in the supplier area," he said.

Then for the price of onion, it is Rp20,000 per kilogram or down from previously reached Rp27,000 per kilogram. "For garlic is usually supplied from Solok District," he pointed out.

In addition to chili and onion, the price of vegetables such as kangkung is around Rp5,000 per bunch, then the price of bean length Rp6,000 per bunch.

"And the price of potatoes Rp12,000 per kilogram," he said.

Another trader, Izal (55) mentions the price of finely ground peppers commonly used to make curry is Rp44,000 per kilogram.

"Currently, buyers have started in complaining about the price increase. We also expect the price increase is not too high to keep sales smoothly," he added. (cha)
