Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The city of Padang, West Sumatra targets to produce 96,235 tons of rice in the area in 2018, up 8,937 tons compared to 2017 which was amounting to 87,298 tons
Head of Agricultural Service of Padang, Syaiful Bahri in Padang, Thursday, said rice production is spreading in ten sub-districts, except West Padang Sub-district.
To achieve the rice production target in 2018, the Agriculture Agency of Padang will optimize agricultural land by applying technology, providing seeds to farmers.
Then, subsidized fertilizer, agricultural equipment and machinery, training and coaching and other things that can facilitate the production process.
Meanwhile, productivity in 2018 is targeted at 5.7 tons per hectare, 16,814 hectares and 16,899 hectares of harvested area.
Meanwhile, during 2017 rice production in the area has reached 99,018 tons with a harvest area of ??1,256 hectares.
The largest rice production is in Kuranji Sub-district with production of 30,411 tons, 404 hectares of harvested area followed by Koto Tangah 19,276 tons with 188 hectare harvest area. (cha)
