Bukittinggi Expeciences 0.37 Percent Inflation in December 2017

Bukittinggi, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Central Bureau of Statistics of Bukittinggi Municipality, West Sumatra, noted that the region experienced inflation of 0.37 percent in December 2017.

Head of Bukittinggi BPS, Mukhlis in Bukittinggi, on Wednesday said inflation was contributed by foodstuffs, food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco groups, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups.

Furthermore, clothing, health, education, recreation and sports groups, and transport, communication and financial services groups.

During December 2017, recorded a number of commodities that experienced the largest price increases are rice, chicken meat, red chili, green chili, beans, cayenne pepper, tilapia, vegetable tomatoes and others.

While some other commodities that experienced a decrease in prices of apples, oranges, eels, onions, potatoes, carrots and fish dencis.

Head of Trade, Cooperatives, SME and Trade of Bukittinggi, Alizar said during December 2017 price increases are still in reasonable condition.

"Red chili commodities are quite a concern with the price range price Rp35,000 to Rp48,000," he said.

Other commodities such as rice also increased so that local government with Bulog Divre Bukittinggi held a market operation to maintain price stability.

"However, the condition of the price of necessities during December 2017 is still reasonable and it is also due to the holiday period when many people take advantage to return home," he added. (cha)
