Painan, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Women Farmers Group namely The Ampale Star which based in Nagari(Traditional Village) of Koto Taratak, Sutera Sub-district, South Pesisir District, West Sumatra process corn kernels into various snacks, including corn ice cream.
"In addition to the processing of corn kernels into corn milk, we also process them into corn ice cream," The Ampale Star Farmers Group Leader, Pufima stated in Painan, Wednesday.
Nevertheless she said, it has not done product marketing because it is still in the testing phase.
"In addition, it only survives for six hours after production and we have not found an interesting packaging," she said.
However, the snacks had been introduced to the local TP-PKK Chairman and received a positive response.
"Alhamdulillah Chairman of TP-PKK of South Pesisir, Lisda Hendrajoni promised to help the development of the business that we pioneered," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of TP-PKK of South Pesisir, Lisda Hendrajoni said that her party appreciates people's ability in processing corn into various kinds of snacks.
Nevertheless, she said, it is necessary to do the study, especially concerning the safety of the food and its impact on health so that it will be more interesting when marketed. (cha)
