Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The government of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra is seeking a major bridge in Kuranji sub-district to be continued in 2018 after experiencing a vacuum several years.

"We are soon to meet landowners to be able to free their land so that the provincial government can continue its development which stopped since 2015," Padang Mayor Mahyeldi Ansharullah stated in Padang on Saturday.

Currently, it is preparing a consolidation with some residents who have land to release the land for the purposes of the bridge and road connecting.

In fact, the bridge could be completed in 2015 but due to land issues and lack of budget so it is still in the construction phase.

The effort to be carried out is the same as freeing up land for the By Pass route since last year.

"We expect people to understand the importance of bridge to facilitate the transportation of citizens," he said.

It is important considering the current path to Kuranji from outside is not representative with the narrow road conditions.

Despite renovation and concretization, community still wants the freedom to transport it.

It is hoped that if the bridge can be completed by province next year, people in one of the big sub-districts in Padang will have easy access in that area. (cha)
