Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Tourist visit to Bridge of Siti Nurbaya Padang, West Sumatra has continued to increase since the Christmas holiday on Monday (Dec 25).

"Since the Christmas holidays on Monday, the number of tourists arriving here continues to increase compared to normal days," one trader at Siti Nurbaya Riski stated in Padang on Thursday.

Increased tourist visits to the bridge whose name is taken from the classic novel, also affects the merchant's income at the local location.

"If on ordinary day sales around Rp400,000, now they can get Rp600,000 or up to Rp700,000," he said.

Not only local tourists, visitors to the location also came from neighboring provinces such as Pekanbaru, Jambi, and Bengkulu.

Most visitors to the location come at night, starting from the late afternoon at around 05.30 p.m., until at 24.00 p.m..

"We usually closed at 11.00 p.m., but if the holiday ahead of the new year, we closed at past midnight," Riski said.

The increase of visitors to the location was also agreed by Nurhamidah (60), another trader on the bridge along the 156 meters.

The location is always crowded during the end of year holidays, the increase is predicted to continue until the turn of the year.

Because the location has always been a place for fireworks every night of the turn of the year, she added. (cha)
