Four Suspects in Health Equipment Corruption Case Declared Law Fugitives

Medan, North Sumatra, (Antara Sumbar) - The Binjai Prosecution Office has declared law fugitives four suspects in alleged corruption of health equipment of a state hospital in Binjai, North Sumatra.

The four suspects identified as TD, MS, CPT and SYA, were charged with embezzling Rp14 billion in budget fund for the procurement of head equipment of the Djoelham Hospital of Binjai in 2012.

Head of the Law Information Section of the North Sumatra High Prosecution Office Sumanggar Siagian, said here on Thursday the whereabouts of the four suspects are not known.

They were declared law fugitives as they were not cooperative and their whereabouts are unknown, Sumanggar said.

"They have failed to appear after being summoned several times by special criminal investigators," he said.

Earlier the Binjai Prosecution Office already named seven other suspects in the alleged corruption of health equipment worth Rp3.5 billion of the same hospital .

The suspects included MS, former director of the hospital, SYA, an official in charge of making commitment, CPT, former head of ULP of the hospital, SHD , former chairman of the Working Group for the procurement of Goods and Services, BA, head of the Branch of state-owned pharmaceutical company Kimia Farma of Medan, TD, Director of PT Mesarinda Abadi and FNC, Director of PT Petan Daya.

The suspects were charged with markup of the prices of health equipment causing a loss of Rp3.5 billion in state fund, based on the audite report of the North Sumatra's branch of the Supreme Audit Board (BPKP). (cha)
