Batusangkar, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of Tanah Datar District, West Sumatra seeks to guide existing tour guides in every tourist destination and Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in the area certified.
Head of the Office of Tourism Youth and Sports (Disparpora) of Tanah Datar, Edi Susanto in Batusangkar, Friday said the certification is done to support tourism activities.
"Some time ago we have been training for tour guides in Pokdarwis in order to increase their knowledge in guiding visitors," he said.
He mentioned that his side along with the tour guides also have held talks to form a special organization tour guide in Tanah Datar area.
"After this, we will strive for guides in Pokdarwis can be certified by the Association of Indonesian Guides (HPI)," he said.
He added that in addition to the tour guide, all Pokdarwis in the area have also been given briefing in managing groups and tourism potential.
According to him, people should be given the understanding that the management of tourism not only from the government, but also from community and will directly impact on the perpetrators of tourism.
"They are guided to prepare the legal tools, if the tourist destinations are levied, it means there should be a nagari regulation that regulates it," he added. (cha)
