Bukittinggi is Preparing Night Run Race

Bukittinggi, (Antara Sumbar), - The Government of Bukittinggi Municipality, West Sumatra is preparing the night run race "Bukittinggi Run Night" as a form of tourism promotion and in here participants must climb up and down a number of stairs that exist in the area.

"In Bukittinggi there are 11 stairs, because it is still in the preparation of stairs while there are five stairs that are planned to be passed as a race route," Head of Tourism and Tourist Attraction, Department of Tourism Youth and Sports, Mihandrik stated in Bukittinggi, Tuesday.

The planned stairs becomes the route of running race that is Janjang Gudang, Janjang 40, Janjang Minang, Janjang Pasangrahan and Janjang Syekh Batam.

According to him, the night race is not an ordinary race in the area so it is hoped that the event will attract people to follow it.

"Due to the night conditions, participants are equipped with attributes such as necklaces or bracelets to add vibrancy and lighting in addition to lighting on existing roads," he said.

The competition was prepared to welcome the 233th anniversary celebration of Bukittinggi (HJK).

The contestants are targeted to reach a thousand participants who come from the students and the general comes from inside and outside Bukittinggi.

Although the night, the activity is still used as a means of tourism promotion and introduce the existing stairs in the area because there are still people who mislead to not know the name of the existing stairs.

"In commemorating HJK, all the local equipments are asked to involve in conducting activities, Bukittinggi Run Night is one of the activities prepared by related department in government in cooperation with sponsors," he said.

It is planned that the evening run will be held on December 23, 2017 starting at Janjang 40 and preparing the invitation to be distributed to schools so that the students will enliven the event. (cha)
