Pariaman, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of Pariaman Municipality, West Sumatra, in collaboration with the natural lover community of Tabuik Diving Club (TDC) build mangrove tracks using the corporate social responsibility program (CSR) fund from the Minangkabau Mining Filling Depot.

"The funding of CSR of DPPU Minangkabau is a form of environmental awareness in cooperation with several related parties," Pariaman Tabuik Diving Club Chairman Aksa Prawira stated in Pariaman on Monday.

The community of nature lovers TDC of Pariaman also planted 10 thousand mangrove seedlings or mangroves Rhizophora type by using the fund aid of CSR of DPPP Minangkabau.

Total planting of 10 thousand mangrove seeds performed several stages with the workmanship for 40 days.

CSR assistance amounting to Rp350 million is used for making mangrove tracking in supporting tourist visits.

TDC initially submitted a proposal for a request for assistance to Pertamina for the development of mangrove forests located in Apar Village, North Pariaman Sub-district.

"The proposal proposed for mangrove forest development in 2018, but Pertamina DPPU Minangkabau grant it in 2017," he said.

He said the concept of the mangrove forest path that is made is 50 meters long and 1.5 meters wide in an area of approximately one hectare.

The mangrove forest development is intended to save the environment as well as the latest natural tourist destination.

The work that started since early December 2017 has reached 30 percent and has been imported 6,000 mangrove seedlings from Bengkalis Riau Province.

Since 2011, the TDC community has planted approximately 100 thousand mangrove seedlings at some point and it is estimated to live as much as 95 percent.

Meanwhile, one environmental activist in the area Citrha Aditur Bahri, said there are approximately five hectares of mangrove trees in the village of Apar, North Pariaman Sub-district.

He explained the existence of Rhizophora mangrove tree species in Apar Village has a function as a main habitat buffer of various types of animals such as fish, mangrove crab, monitor lizard and so forth.

The area of mangrove forest is the result of planting by local government, TDC nature lovers group, private and society since last few years, he added. (cha)
