Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) has asked the local governments to apply non-cash transactions in order to do not direct them to one bank only because it has the potential to create unfair business competition.

"We heard that some local governments are starting to implement non-cash transactions, but they are directing consumers or parties involved in using certain banks," Head of KPPU RI Regional Representative Office Abdul Hakim Pasaribu stated at a meeting with journalist forum in Padang on Friday.

According to him, if it only specializes to one bank it is not good in business competition, so there is such injustice to other business actors who have the same competence.

"Moreover, local governments have policies that must accommodate all interests," he said.

He suggests it could be in an institution administratively, all parties who apply non-cash transactions may be done with any bank. But when the application there are some requirements that lead to use a particular bank.

"For example if it is using bank A, the person receiving the funds must bear the administrative costs, so inevitably he will create the same account to avoid the cost," he explained.

To that end, it urged local governments to be wise in the application of non-cash transactions, especially now banks are ready for business competition, he added. (cha)
