Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - PT Pertamina (Persero) immediately implemented a non-cash payment system in all public refueling stations (SPBU) in West Sumatra.

"The application of non-cash system is an effort by PT Pertamina to support the National Non-Cash Movement (GNNT) program launched by government," Retail Fuel Marketing Manager Region I PT Pertamina Agus Taufik Harahap said in Padang on Wednesday.

According to non-cash system, there are many benefits to be obtained, not only from gas station managers, but also the people will feel the ease including the fast time in doing the transaction.

To strengthen Pertamina's commitment to take an active role in encouraging non-cash transactions, it cooperates with Government of West Sumatra, Bank Indonesia and State-owned Banking in its implementation.

According to the beginning of January 2018, the implementation of a special channel for non-cash payment will be done in Padang, then continued to other areas to cover 115 units of gas stations throughout West Sumatra.

"We will do it gradually, for example one gas station prepared a special path for non-cash transactions that can use credit cards, debit cards, and electronic money," he said.

PT Petamina will also conduct socialization in advance to the public regarding the non-cash transaction implementation.

"We are aware that as retail business actors with outlets scattered all over the country, Pertamina has a big role to succeed in non-cash payment program," Agus stated.

Vice Governor of West Sumatra, Nasrul Abit appreciated the step of PT Pertamina for the application of non-cash payment because it will facilitate and improve service to the community.

"For the application in the near future must be seen first, which gas stations have facilities and infrastructure that support the program," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Bank Indonesia Representative Office of West Sumatra, Endy Dwi Tjahjono said the application of non-cash payment requires a good internet network connection. Because it encourages banks to cooperate with telecommunications services to develop the network to the corners.

"Banks will be the medium in non-cash transaction growth, as time goes by there will be a healthy competition between banks," he added. (cha)
