Red Chili is Still Contributing To Inflation: BPS

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of West Sumatra revealed that red chili is still a commodity contributing to inflation in the city of Padang in November 2017 with a contribution of 0.32 percent.

"In November 2017, inflation in Padang stood at 0.48 percent, triggered by the two largest commodities contributing to red chili and eggs," West Sumatra BPS chief, Sukardi said in Padang on Monday.

According to him in addition to red chili and eggs other commodity races that experienced price increases in November are chicken meat, car, jengkol, wages of domestic servants, oranges and anchovies.

In November, however, some commodities experienced price declines, contributing to deflation, among others are potatoes, onions, rice, beef, cobs, vegetable tomatoes, apples, chicory, garlic and green mustard.

He said that out of 23 cities in Sumatra, all cities have inflation.

The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga city of 1.11 percent and the lowest in Tanjung Pinang City is 0.04 percent.

While Padang was ranked eighth of all cities experiencing inflation in Sumatra and the 12th nationally, he added. (cha)
