Payakumbuh, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of Payakumbuh, West Sumatra is determined to reduce the poverty rate in the area to five percent in the next five years.

"In 2012, the poverty percentage of Payakumbuh is still at the rate of nine percent," Deputy Mayor of Payakumbuh, Erwin Yunaz stated at the Public Consultation Forum (FKP) on poverty reduction strategy 2017-2022 in Payakumbuh, Monday.

In the period of 2012-2016 the poverty rate dropped to 6.46 percent. It means a decline of 2.55 percent.

With this condition, Payakumbuh become one of 50 districts and cities in Indonesia that implement the program Integrated Referral Service System (SLRT), where the program is in order to identify the needs of poor and vulnerable.

"With programs and services managed jointly by the central, provincial and district governments and cities, Payakumbuh for the next five years is determined to reduce poverty by up to five percent," he said.

To achieve it, there is a need for systematic, integrated, and comprehensive approaches from all parties.

It is done because the problem of poverty is a classic problem of each region, and its handling strategy can not be done alone, but must be together, comprehensive, and sustainable.

Therefore, he appreciated the implementation of public consultation forum on poverty alleviation strategy of 2017-2022 Payakumbuh, so it can develop Regional Poverty Reduction Strategy (SPKD) and the input from various elements of society. (cha)
