Batusangkar, (Antara Sumbar) - Dekranas Chairman Mufidah Jusuf Kalla appreciated the Minangkabau Culture Festival (FPBM) which is held by Government of Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, in an effort to preserve local culture.

"I strongly support the implementation of the activity because it can show the activities and creativity of Minangkabau community," Mufidah stated while opening FPMB at Istano Basa Pagaruyung, Tanah Datar, Wednesday.

In addition, she added, the activity can express and communicate cultural aspirations in various forms of activities as an effort to preserve local culture.

Mufidah expects the activity to run well because it can support the development of regional tourism sector so that it can introduce the diversity of culinary, crafts and others. Besides, of course it can lift the welfare of local communities.

"The activity is in line with national development strategy that prioritizes social and cultural development, namely national development based on growing tradition in society so that development can be done by involving community participation with local wisdom on an ongoing basis," she explained.

Vice Governor of West Sumatra, Nasrul Abit convey FPBM activities in line with the vision and mission of provincial government to prioritize non-physical development, especially the practice of custom and cultural values.

He hopes FPBM activity of West Sumatra society makes culture does not only as pride but also contained in it religious values, social life and state.

"The purpose of FPBM is seeing how far the cultural customs are still used in West Sumatra, so that each district and city can display the culture and art of their respective regions," he said.

Tanah Datar Regent, Irdinansyah Tarmizi conveyed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the FPBM success especially to Mufidah Jusuf Kalla who is pleased to attend and Dato' Tan Sri Rais Yatim, a Minangkabau nomad leader in Malaysia along with a group of nomads who hold important positions in Malaysia.
