Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Economic observer from University of Andalas (Unand) Padang, West Sumatra, Dr Harif Amali Rivai said conventional store businessmen must actively use e-commerce market as a means of increasing turnover.

"Nowadays, conventional business is experiencing a setback with marked closing of shops in shopping centers. To anticipate it, businessmen must be active in using e-commerce," he said in Padang on Tuesday.

According to him, the closure of conventional stores is due to turnover decreased so that the operational costs should be cut from the usual.

The decline of conventional business is due to the changing era that became millennium generation era.

"In that era, people often use practical ways, so they only use smart phones to access everything including in buying food, clothing, and other electronic goods," he said.

Coupled with easy access to payment, so that the shopping style will be much in demand.

"The situation makes conventional business people are very disadvantaged, because they have to lower the price of goods to close the store," he said.

He suggested the businessman to develop strategies in anticipating such as making two patterns that are conventional and online.

"So the existing store must be equipped with an online version, to attract more buyers interest," he continued.

According to the condition, it can reduce the mobilization of visits to shopping centers, but in terms of economic moves with e-commerce.

Nationally, transactions will shift from conventional to digital, and it is beneficial as transactions continue to move, he added. (cha)
