Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - One of the pioneers of Tour de Singkarak (TdS) cycling event, James Hellyward said the promotion of sports and tourism fusion activities should be done early and intensively.
"It is not just the biggest sporting event, but also tourism so that the promotion must be stronger," he said, in Padang, Monday.
According to him if TdS implemented on November then January or after the event, it should immediately re-done the promotion.
The promotion is carried out by introducing to other local communities when officials or communities travel.
For example, the head of the office during a visit to Jakarta or abroad always buzzing TdS event in various occasions.
Then local government officials also promote the event every time they travel to carry out the service.
"It could be each carry a brochure about the existing tourist attraction in West Sumatra and introduce to other local communities," he said.
TdS is not just a world-wide cycling sport event but also a great effort by the government to introduce tourism and culture to the world, it should be a priority orientation, he explained.
When evaluated every year, the event of TdS is able to suck a lot of tourists visiting to the West Sumatra.
It should be the thing that the capital develops then.
He added that in promoting TdS, it is not merely through the pretext of building road infrastructure for the race, but also focus on the revamping of tourist attraction.
