S Solok Prepares 32 Guides To Help TdS Riders

Padang Aro, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of South Solok District, West Sumatra prepares 32 guides who are fluent in English at finish location to help the riders of Tour de Singkarak (TDS).

"The guides have been through the selection and are given a briefing so that there is no obstacles while they are working later," Selection Coordinator, A Rahman stated in Padang Aro, Tuesday.

He said the 32 guides consisted of two coordinators, 10 of them are English teachers, college students, high school and junior high school students.

South Solok gets the schedule as the finish location of the stage V on November 22, 2017. Local government allocates budget about Rp200 million for the activity.

In enlivening TdS this year, the South Solok government held a Thousand Festivals of Rumah Gadang (Minangkabau traditional houses), which is centered in the area of Seribu Rumah Gadang, Koto Baru, Sungai Pagu Sub-district, on November 19-21.

The festival is enlivened by a number of artistic and cultural performances such as procession of indigenous, bajamba, genuine culinary exhibition of South Solok, dance carnival, and others.

The festival is expected to suck the interest of tourists to visit tourist destinations there especially the indigenous village of Seribu Rumah Gadang.

Local government has prepared a miniature handicraft of Seribu Rumah Gadang as a souvenir for the riders.

Head of Promotion Department of Tourism and Culture of South Solok Yolni Hendra said, souvenir miniature is a product of SMEs in South Solok.

"We provide them according to the number of participants. In total, there are 110 pieces," he said.

In addition, the local government has also prepared a brochure for tourism promotion.

Stage V itself is planned star in Solok Municipality at 09.00 a.m. and is estimated to reach the location in front of the office of Solok South Regent at 12.45 p.m.. (cha)
