Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - West Sumatra Provincial Government estimates the cost or budget of National Press Day (HPN) activities which is held in the area in 2018 reached Rp25 billion.

"The budget is up Rp9 billion from the previous estimate of Rp16 billion that had been discussed some time ago in Jakarta," West Sumatra Provincial Assistant Nasir Ahmad said in Padang on Monday.

The amount of budget estimates is expected to provide more benefits on various sides by local governments and society at large.

West Sumatra Provincial Government estimates the arrival of approximately 3,000 guests to the area during the series of HPN activities take place.

But from that amount, the provincial government only bear 500 invited guests while the rest is the cost of each dependent.

"2,500 guests are expected to help encourage and improve the economic, tourism and other side during the HPN activities take place," he said.

To face the 2018 HPN, provincial government has made a number of preparations including coordinating with the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of West Sumatra.

The Governor of West Sumatra has given directives and instructions to all Organizational Structure Device Area (SOPD) in order to seek synchronization program with HPN.

Meanwhile, Chairman of West Sumatra PWI, Heranof Firdaus said the 34th HPN implementation in the province will bring positive impacts to the regions in various sectors such as development programs, tourism, creative economy and so forth.

"At the peak day of 2018 HPN, President will come with a number of Ministers, it should be utilized as possible one of them by proposing various flagship programs such as development of Mandeh and other attractions," he explained.

Therefore, the role of the press is important in helping disseminating information or news so that the target can be achieved.

Moreover, West Sumatra is one of the tourist destinations in Indonesia so it is expected to be superior to other tourist attractions.

It is supported by various leading tourist attractions such as religious sector, history, nature tourism, culture and so on that has its own value. (cha)
