Bukittinggi, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of Bukittinggi Municipality, West Sumatra targets the shelters for the traders who affected by Ateh Market fires will be done by the end of 2017.

"The shelter is targeted to be in completion by the end of 2017 so that in January 2018 trading activity in Ateh Market is already going on normally and orderly again," Head of Department of Cooperatives, UKM and Trade of Bukittinggi, M Idris told in Bukittinggi, Monday.

Although it is a shelter market, it mentions that kiosks are provided in as comfortable condition as possible with built using steel frame, wall of GRC material and equipped with rolling door.

"This is because Ateh Market is a shopping destination so the charm must be maintained even though it is now in the shelter," he said.

The shelter is provided at two points for shopping center merchants ie parking area beside former Gloria Cinema and Putih Market as well as one point for street hawkers that is in the area of Back Market.

The number of stalls to be built are 763 kiosks in size 1.75 meters by 2 meters for shopping center traders and 463 kiosks by size 1.25 meters by 1.25 meters for street vendors.

"But the number can change because to open the way to Back Market, there are other traders who must shift, then some of the shops including retailers who have previously rented a shop in Banto Market," he explained.

The kiosk building process has been done since Saturday (Nov 11) starting at the ex-Gloria Cinema parking area and up to 48 plots of merchant kiosks.

Furthermore, when the shelter has been completed, Idris explained the placement of merchants are prepared based on the type of product sold and arranged by way of lottery.

"In the meantime, the plan to fill the kiosk is done in a raffle, who will occupy the kiosk, but it will be discussed with merchant's representative," he added. (cha)
