Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Vice Governor of West Sumatra, Nasrul Abit said supporting infrastructure such as roads and other facilities are main factors in developing tourist destinations so it should be a priority.
"The development of supporting infrastructure needs a big budget, but sometimes it can be done by sharing the budget with the province," he said when contacted from Padang on Sunday.
He said it is related to the development of West Sumatra, one of which focuses on tourism.
According to West Sumatra Provincial Government, it has a budget large enough to help the development of tourist destinations in the region.
However, because the authority of tourism sector is located in the districts and cities, the way to go is with a memorandum of understanding.
The memorandum of understanding contains budget sharing with districts and municipalities. The largest portion of the budget remains the responsibility of districts and cities that have tourist destinations while West Sumatra Provincial Government can help up to 40 percent.
The pattern is quite effective if it is implemented properly. But unfortunately from 19 districts and cities, not all of them serious to use the pattern of cooperation.
Nevertheless, West Sumatra Provincial Government focused on helping the region seriously in the field of tourism. (cha)
