Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - West Sumatra Vice Governor Nasrul Abit asked village offices to maximize the utilization of village funds 2018 to absorb labor to reduce unemployment.
"The Ministry of Village Development for Disadvantaged and Transmigration Area (PDTT) ensures that 30 percent of village budget funds can be paid for workers' wages, which can reduce the unemployment rate in West Sumatra," Vice Governor stated in Padang on Friday.
He said it was related to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) data which states that until August 2017, the number of unemployed productive age in the province reached 138,700 people, up compared to August 2016 as many as 125,900 people.
According to him, many productive workforce with high education level are still unemployed in villages and nagari. Some of the labor force are in the city.
They can be embraced to build the village through a number of programs with wages or fees from village funds.
According to him, the mechanism has been implemented in West Pasaman District, which made the policy of calling back the graduate of economics and accounting to assist the management of village funds.
However, he warned that the wage amount using the village funds is only 80 percent of Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) 2018, or about Rp1.6 million.
Previously, the Village Minister for the Development of Disadvantaged and Transmigrated Areas (PDTT) Eko Putro Sandjojo said that 30 percent of Rp60 trillion in 2018 village funds could be used to pay the wages of rural development funds.
If it is done, village funds will be able to absorb 5.7 million new workers.
That way, the working people have income directly so as to increase purchasing power.
He estimates the village funds will be used to pay wages of about Rp18 trillion. (cha)
