Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Development of Mandeh Area in South Pesisir District, West Sumatra, must carry the concept of sustainable tourism according to the Minister of Tourism Regulation Number 14 of 2016 by considering zonation.
"Now the development of Mandeh leads to mass tourism, not quality tourism," Andalas University Tourism Development Center researcher Sari Lenggogeni stated in Padang on Tuesday.
She said that during a coordination meeting on the drafting of natural resources and environmental management plan for the tourism services sector of Mandeh in Padang.
According to her, mass tourism has an advantage, especially in terms of economy because of the mobility of many tourists on tourist destinations.
But at the same time, it also has the opportunity to cause degradation and even destruction of the environment, both the natural, cultural and social environment.
She considered the development of Mandeh Regions as a better marine ecotourism towards quality tourism, in the sense of organizing tourism by offering exclusive, alternative and non-bulk tours.
The type of tourism is believed to be more beneficial, not only for economic life, but also beneficial in the progress of society as a whole and continuous, sustainable for a very long time, both in terms of economic prosperity, and cultural social life.
In order for it to be achieved, its preparation and planning must be matured from the beginning.
Do not later expose in the media excessively but the product has not finished, the regulatory system has not been so, all rushing until the occurrence of damage to the object of tourism.
According to her, in developing tourism there must be a concept from the beginning. Which tours are considered premium and which one also must be developed with other concepts.
She stated, there must be zoning. It could refer to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Its development is based on regulations that involve environmental experts, especially to determine zones.
"Although Mandeh is currently considered to be a surplus, if it is not maintained, then it can not develop, for example we see that investment interest in Mandeh has started to decrease," he said.
Meanwhile, Vice Governor of West Sumatra Nasrul Abit, said there should be synchronization about Mandeh development from central, provincial and district levels.
He stated, it is also necessary to establish a master plan and zoning, through local regulations.
"We agree to do not damage the protected forest, although for tourism it has a chance to do according to the rules, but most important is the Mandeh Regions set point in the zonation, which can be built and which is not. There is conservation, cultivation, tourism and economy, " he said.
Zoning manufacture is assisted environmental experts so that no one in handling. (cha)
