President Visits Sragen To Distribute Land Certificates

Joko Widodo (Antara)

Sragen, C Java, (Antara Sumbar) - President Joko Widodo visited the Taruna Stadium in Sragen, Central Java, to distribute land certificates to the people of Sragen.

"Yes, there will be a distribution of certificates, as it has been scheduled a while ago," the president noted after the traditional processions held in the lead-up to the wedding of his daughter Kahiyang Ayu at his residency, Tuesday.

As earlier reported by Antara in Sragen, the president had taken the road from Solo to reach the sub-district of Sragen at 11:50 a.m. local time.

During the event to handover certificates, the president was accompanied by Minister of Land and Spatial Planning Sofyan Djalil, who is also head of the National Land Agency.

After the work visit to Sragen, Widodo will continue to be part of his daughter's pre-wedding processions, which is "midodareni," scheduled to be held at his residency on Tuesday night.

Midodareni refers to the last night when the bride and groom live as an unmarried couple. The word is derived from a Javanese term "Widodari," which means goddess. During this night, the bride-to-be becomes as beautiful as the goddess herself, and it is believed goddesses would visit her from the heavens.

Prior to the work visit to Sragen, the president was part of another pre-wedding procession that included prayers, the application of "bleketepe," which signifies that parents in the house are conducting a ceremony, during which the president wore a set of red-themed traditional attire.

Kahiyang Ayu will marry Bobby Nasution on Nov 8.

Moreover, the president was helped by both of his sons -- Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Kaesang Pengarep -- to unveil bunches of bananas and install rice bonds on the gate of their house.

In Javanese traditions, it symbolizes monumental events, such as weddings.

Moreover, President Widodo has continued to undertake official visits, including to the sub-district of Boyolali and Madiun, on Monday. (*)
