Tour De Singkarak`s Organizing Committee Offers Prizes Worth Rp2.3 Billion

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The organizing committee of the sports tourism event of Tour de Singkarak (TdS) is handing out prizes worth Rp2.3 billion this year similar to what it had offered in the previous years.

"With regard to the prizes, we have confirmed that the amount does not change," Oni Yulfian, head of the West Sumatra tourism office, noted here, Monday.

The annual cycling race will be held in West Sumatra Province on Nov 18-26, 2017.

The ninth TdS will cover nine states, and five domestic and 15 international teams from 30 countries will participate in the event.

The grand start will be on Nov 18 in Batusangkar, and the cyclists will head to Tanah dtar and Padang at a distance of 107 kilometers (km).

The second stage will start from Painan on Nov 19, weaving its way through South Pesisir, Sawahlunto, covering a distance of 166 km. On Nov 20, the third stage will start from Muaro Sinjujuang and visit Punjuang Island, with a distance of 100 km.

The 135-km distance fourth stage will start from Lake Singkarak on Nov 21 and pass through Solok District and Payakumbuh.

The 101-km-long fifth stage will start from Harau Valley on Nov 22 and cover Limapuluhkota and Padang Panjang.

The 140-km-long sixth stage will start from Solok Town toward Kayo Aro and South Solok on Nov 23. The 157-km-long seventh stage will start from Pariaman, passing through West Pasaman on Nov 24.

The 101-km-long eighth stage will start from Padang Pariaman and head to Agam on Nov 25, and the final stage will cover a distance of 90 km from Pasaman to Bukittinggi and will take place on Nov 26.

Part of the Union Cycliste Internationale race series, the ninth edition of the TdS will involve 18 of the total 19 districts and cities of the province. (*)
