Qasidah Festival To Strengthen Padang Halal Tourism: Mayor

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The Mayor of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra Mahyeldi Ansharullah said the 22nd National Qasidah Art Festival in November 2017 will strengthen the implementation of halal tourism in the area.

"Thousands of participants or caravan will come and certainly not only racing but also enjoy the tour," he said in Padang, Friday.

According to him, one of the principles of halal tourism is travelling according to norm, this is strived consistent in tourism management.

Certainly with the arrival of Qasidah participants from 34 provinces that have culturally appropriate religious provisions, halal tourism in West Sumatra will be more perceived.

It includes to enjoy culinary at a restaurant that has been recommended with the principle of clean, orderly, appropriate rules, worthy, and lawful.

Or having such shop at Raya Market which is being arranged and renovated.

"The qasidah festival as well as Padang's commitment to become a city of education, cultured and Islamic," he said.

He noted there are about 2,500 people plus hundreds of officials who participate and it will certainly increase the velocity of monel in Padang on November 18 to 25, 2017.

For that side, through the existing SKPD especially the Department of Tourism and Culture, it is preparing a variety of activities and preparation of lodging and attractions to launch the activity.

In addition, he hopes the community can maintain security and atmosphere conducive during the activity.

Meanwhile, one of community leaders in Pauh Syafriadi said the Qasidah festival can enhance the identity of Padang as an Islamic tourism destination. (cha)
