South Solok Rubber Production Goes Down

Padang Aro, (Antara Sumbar) - The production of rubber latex in South Solok District, West Sumatra, declined due to the selling price that has plummeted since last few years.

Head of Local Agriculture, Wandra in Padang Aro, Tuesday (Oct 3), said that until the second quarter of 2017, new rubber production is only 3.07 tons while throughout 2016 it reached 12.01 tons.

The selling price of rubber latex is currently Rp7 thousand per kilogram. It is making farmers reluctant to harvest so that the production decreases.

Relatively, cheap rubber price has been going on for four years, although it has only briefly climbed.

For the current rubber land, there is no reduction even in 2016 there was the addition of 100 hectares.

The community of rubber plantation is currently 16,492 hectares with 8,250 owners.

In addition, if the barter of Indonesia's plantation with Sukhoi from Russia is done, then it is likely that rubber price will rise again.

In the plan, one of the gardens that will be in the barter is rubber so it will impact on the selling price.

This year, through National Budget (APBN), there will be rejuvenation of 200 community rubber land in South Solok, he added. (cha)
