Bukittinggi Maximizes Culinary Business To Support Tourism

Bukittinggi, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of Bukittinggi Municipality, West Sumatra, equips the culinary business in the area with the skills of tourism business services as a step to support regional tourism.

Head of local Youth and Sports Tourism Office, Erwin Umar in Bukittinggi, Monday (Sept 25), said the training is to businessmen is done to improve the service and it was provided to 35 participants consisting of restaurant managers and rice vendors who sell at Los Lambuang Atas Market.

The training is focused on kosher and hygienic culinary implementation as well as service so that visitors are served with friendly, courteous and provide price clarity information.

Tourism business services currently have promising investment value and culinary as its supporters also have to clean up so it can play role to increase regional income and open job field.

The goal of this training, we want culinary actors to serve visitors according to the concept of Sapta Pesona and serve halal cuisine that will be related to halal certification facilitated by West Sumatra Tourism Office.

In order to get halal certification, one of the conditions of food presented must be healthy.

Furthermore, through the training, local government can see the readiness of business owners to be proposed to obtain halal certification.

In addition to training, the local government also equip participants with business nameplate and menu list on their respective endeavors.

The chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) of Bukittinggi, Vina Kumala, said her side appreciated the implementation of training.

"This is the first time held local government. Actually it is usually done only to hoteliers. If it is done more broadly, hopefully we can promote regional tourism together," she said.

Related to the inclusion of food prices, PHRI will also participate socialize and monitor its development. (cha)
