Six Natural Disasters Occurred in Padangpariaman: BPBD

Parit Malintang, (Antara Sumbar) - Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Padangpariaman District, West Sumatra, said there were six disasters that occurred on Wednesday (Sept 20) due to heavy rains and strong wind.

"The disasters were a landslide and fallen trees that struck the road body," Chief Executive of Padangpariaman BPBD, Amiruddin stated in Parit Malintang, on Thursday (Sept 21).

The six events are landslides that hit two houses on the hillside in Korong Kubu Alahan Kuranji, Nagari Sungai Sirah Kuranji Hulu, Sungai Geringging Sub-district.

Disasters that occurred at around 02.00 p.m. did not cause casualties and the residents of the house now stay at local musala.

"While the losses incurred Rp250 million," he noted.

Then landslide also hit the road body in Korong Lampajang, Nagari Kuranji Hilir Sungai Limau Sub-district which connects with Sungai Geringging.

The incident occurred at around 02.00p.m. with a landslide height about two meters so that it impacts on motor vehicle traffic.

Furthermore, landslide paved the road between Korong Lansano and Patamuan in Nagari Sikucur Barat, VII Sub-district Koto Kampung Dalam.

The height of landslide material reaches four meters with a length of 10 meters which occurred at around 4.30 p.m. thus hampering traffic in the area.

While the fallen trees and the road bodies occur in Korong Kampuang Durian, Nagari Lubuk Alung, Lubuk Alung Sub-district which occurred at around 01.00 p.m.

Fallen trees which hit the road body also occurred in Korong Talawo Mundam, Nagari Ketaping, Batang Anai Sub-district which occurred at around 12.45 a.m..

The same event also took place in Korong Sigimba, Nagari Sigimba Gantiang, Ulakan Tapakis Sub-district at around 12.00 a.m..

It also monitors the development of collapsed roads in Korong Batu Mangaum Nagari Kuranji Hulu Sungai Geringging Sub-district which connects with Sungai Limau Sub-district.

The road has collapsed since a week ago but was aggravated by the rain that hit the area on Tuesday (Sept 19) so the road collapsed more than one meter with a length of four meters.

Although there are no casualties but his side still appealed to local residents to increase the vigilance because the weather in the province is quite extreme especially the area which is prone to disaster. (cha)
