200 W Sumatra Volunteers Registered To Go To Myanmar

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Vice Chairman of Minangkabau Community Forum (FMM), Irfianda Abidin said there are 200 volunteers from West Sumatra have registered themselves to go to Myanmar to provide assistance to Rohingya Muslims who are victims of violence.

"We open registration since Monday (Sept 4) at Nabawi Hotel Veteran Street Padang. Until today, 200 people have registered as humanitarian and jihad volunteers to help Rohingya ethnic," he said in Padang on Thursday (Sept 7).

According to him, currently three volunteers are already in Myanmar to provide assistance directly, the rest 26 more people will be dispatched in the next week.

"While we will continue to open registration until the amount we need is enough then just dispatched," he said.

He said that every volunteer who will depart must fill out the form provided by FMM then they just wait for the call to depart.

"We also open opportunities to people who want to donate to Muslims in Rohingya," he said.

In addition, his side will also conduct "Solidarity Action To Fight for Rohingya Muslims" on Friday (Sept 8) which is starting from Nurul Iman to the Office of Governor of West Sumatra in Padang.

"We will conduct a road rally, oration and donation collection to help Muslims in Myanmar," Irfianda said.

Chairman of the Committee for Volunteer Registration and Mujahid FMM, Abu Fatahillah explained that humanitarian volunteers will help refugees in improving mentally and spiritually those who are victims of violence.

"Many organizations have provided emergency schools and hospitals, but we will send volunteers and mujahids ready to fight there," he continued. (*)
