Some Countries Discuss Geological Problems in Padang

Padang, W Sumatra, (Antara Sumbar) - A number of countries met at Andalas University in Padang city, West Sumatra province, to discuss geology and engineering at the 4th International Conference on Earth Sciences and Engineering (ICEE), which is held from Aug 29 to Aug 31.

"This activity aims to bring together and provide a place for researchers, engineers, scientists, and academics and industry professionals from around the world to present and exchange research results and their development activities on all sectors of earth sciences and engineering," Chairman of the ICEE Committee Abdul Hakam said here on Tuesday (Aug 29).

The participants of the conference are from United Stated of America, United Kingdom, Japan, India, and Malaysia, among others.

The domestic universities, namely the Bandung Institute of Technology in West Java province, Baturaja University in South Sumatra province, and Andalas University, also participated in the conference.

Hakam noted that the scientists will combine the two sciences of Earth and Engineering at the meeting to discuss the problems of lightning, weather, earth movement, and environment, among others.

The knowledge in the field of engineering will relate to the issues of aircraft, electro buildings, and others.

According to him, the activity is also beneficial for Andalas University because more journals will be published to raise the status of the university.

"Since the participants are open to the public, then it is possible that scientists can join this meeting to improve the knowledge in the fields of earth and engineering," he stated.

The First International Conference on Earth Sciences and Engineering was held in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, in 2010. The ICEE of 2015 and 2016 was held by involving the Department of Civil Engineering, Nehru Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, India. (*)
