Padang's Drivers Reject Online Transport

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Hundreds of public transportation drivers in the city of Padang, West Sumatra, staged a rally in the parliament building to refuse the operation of the network (online) transport in the area on Monday (Aug 28).

Hundreds of transport drivers have started strike action in front of DPRD at 09.30 a.m..

Their demands are more focused on online transport denials such as Go Car, Grab and Uber.

One representative of public transportation driver, Ajo Mani who is the Chairman of Permata Biru Cooperative said the government can curb online transport operating in the area.

"Tariffs for online transport are not determined by government, so it is requested to be disciplined," he said.

In addition to make such demands on online transport, public transportation driver also refused the operation of ten units of Trans Padang.

He hopes that the meeting with representatives of DPRD can find the right solution to their aspirations submitted to DPRD. (cha)
