West Sumatra Posts An Increase In Exports

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - West Sumatra recorded a 10.92 percent increase in export earning to US$223.38 million in February, 2017 from US$201.38 million in January in the same year.

Its main export commodities were animal fat and oil worth US$146.01 million , head of the West Sumatra Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS) Sukardi said here on Thursday (March 16).

Increase was recorded in exports to the United States, Si8ngapore and China , Sukardi said.

Exports to a number of other countries declined such as to India down 37.10 percent.

India, however, remained the largest export destination to which exports were valued at US$56.44 million , followed by the United States to which exports valued at US$50.42 million and Singapore US$23.78 million .

Exports to India made up 34.41 percent of its total exports in value and exports to the United States made up 18.65 percent and Singapore accounted for 10.44 percent and China for 7.08 percent. (*)
