Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, (Antara Sumbar) - An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale jolted Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) District in East Nusa Tenggara Province at 12.15 Central Indonesia Standard Time (Wita) on Thursday (March 16).
Local Meteorology and Geophysics Agency spokesman Mohammad Hairidzulhi remarked here on Thursday that the epicenter of the earthquake was located between 9.89 degrees Southern Latitude and 124.35 degrees Eastern Longitude at a depth of 10 kilometers, or some 14 kilometers southwest of TTS.
Hairidzulhi said the earthquake was not strong enough to trigger a tsunami, or material damage, and therefore the local communities were called on to stay calm. (*)
