Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - West Sumatra Legislative Assembly (DPRD) Chairman Hendra Irwan Rahim considers the case of burning Dharmasraya Police Chief Office (Mapolres) on Sunday (Nov 12) will not affect tourism activities in the province.

"We have coordinated with the police chief that West Sumatra is still safe, it will further enhance the security of region," he said in Padang, Tuesday.

According to him, burning Mapolres does not make the security conditions directly decrease West Sumatra.

"We do not think the case directly makes West Sumatra gripping the proof, at this time the entire community in West Sumatra is still running activities as usual," he said.

West Sumatra has a variety of tourist destinations throughout the city and district that all offer a comfortable beauty and nature.

After the case of burning Mapolres, all the destinations were still visited by tourists.

The Golkar politician believes West Sumatra is still a safe area to be visited by tourists both nationally and abroad.

"Our future tourism agenda is quite a lot both at regional, national and international levels," he said.

Related to the burning of Mapolres, he continued West Sumatra Police must improve their intelligence function because the weakness of the function became one of the causes of burning Mapolres office.

"Intelligence is a vital part of the security system, should this be addressed immediately", he said. (cha)
