Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) Adityawarman Museum of West Sumatra, held a discussion related to the history of national press in Minangkabau in order to welcome the National Press Day (HPN) celebration in February 2018.

Head of UPTD Adityawarman Museum, Adi Saputra in Padang, Tuesday, said besides the discussion also conducted some activities to welcome the activities.

"Nowadays many people do not know about the press journey in West Sumatra, whereas based on the history of this region, it has given birth to the figures of press at the national scale," he added.

The discussion was attended by several figures and press organizations in West Sumatra, such as PWI, AJI and IJTI and academics from several campuses.

According to him, the discussion was conducted for two days starting from November 7 to 8, 2017 in involving academics, cultural and senior journalists as speakers.

On the first day the person who addressed as a speaker was Unand Professor Gusti Asnan as well as two senior journalists namely Hasril Chaniago and Fachrul Rashid.

"Today, the speaker will be West Sumatra Culturalman, Darman Munir and one of the senior journalists, Eko Yanche," he said.

In addition to discussions, other activities prepared by the museum to welcome the 2018 HPN is preparing the Minangkabau Press Museum.

"Currently Rumah Gadang (Minangkabau tradisional house) is being closed because in preparation as Minangkabau Press Museum which will be inaugurated on December 1, 2017," he said.

Meanwhile, one of the senior journalist of West Sumatra who is also a speaker in the activity, Eko Yanche said the current technological developments require the dissemination of information done faster than before. (cha)
