Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) representative of Padang, West Sumatra, held an investment festival titled Indonesia Investment Festival 2017 on October 27 to 29 to target new investors potentials.

The event aims to socialize the capital market to community consisting of a series of events such as exhibitions, talk shows, investor success stories, and musical entertainment, Head of Padang representative of BEI, Reza Sadat Syahmeini stated in Padang, Friday.

The activity is followed by six securities companies and investment galleries in order to introduce the capital market to public that was held in Transmart Padang.

"While shopping, visitors can find out and ask directly to the ins and outs of the capital market," he added.

Visitors can also open a stock account and conduct transactions on the stand securities firms and investment galleries.

"We hope the public is more familiar with the capital market and make the stock as one of the investment options," he continued.

In the future, it will continue to hold a variety of socialization so that citizens of West Sumatra can make stock in the capital market as an investment choice because at this time most of the existing investors in the stock is still dominated by foreigners.

Meanwhile, Head of the Office of Financial Service Authority (OJK) of West Sumatra, Darwisman assess the prospects of West Sumatra people to transact in the capital market is large and in the future will continue to grow.

"I see from year to year there is a significant increase, in 2012 the number of West Sumatra residents who invest in the capital market reached 1,854 people, while until September 2017 has reached 8,047 people," he said.

Nominal transactions in public capital markets that have West Sumatra ID card in 2016 reached Rp11.74 trillion and in 2017 to September has reached Rp7.21 trillion.

However, when compared with the total population of West Sumatra which reached 5.6 million people, the total citizens of West Sumatra who invest in the capital market has not reached one percent. (cha)
