Lubukbasung, (Antara Sumbar) - The target of freshwater fish production in Agam District, West Sumatra, is reduced from 120 thousand tons in 2017 to 55 thousand tons in 2018,

Head of the Agam Fishery and Food Security Agency Ermanto in Lubukbasung, on Saturday aid that the target of freshwater fish production in the area was reduced by 65 thousand tons in 2018 due to the absence of auxiliary funding fund to support the minapolitan program from central government.

In 2017, Agam did not get the helper duty fund and only received a special allocation fund (DAK) of Rp400 million to succeed minapolitan program.

"In 2016, Agam got auxiliary helper funds amounting to Rp400 million and DAK amounting to Rp400 million," he pointed out.

In addition to no auxiliary funds, the reduction of production targets is also caused by Agam District which will reduce the number of floating net cages (KJA) from 17,325 units to 6,000 units. While freshwater fish production is mostly found in Maninjau Lake about 60 percent

"This is in order to save Maninjau Lake from pollution, because the lake is in seriously polluted condition," he said.

To reduce the number of floating net cages, it installed tagging or marking KJA in Maninjau Lake in an effort to inventory ownership of KJA.

"The installation of the tagging is done by jorong and nagari devices based on ownership done since June 2017," he said.

Currently the realization of freshwater fish production in Agam is 40 thousand tons from January to September 2017. While the target this year is 120 thousand tons. (cha)
