Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra, is intensifying tourism activities at night to enliven Raya Market which currently tend to be quiet.
"As the initial plan, we will open culinary market at night, then there will be a variety of other activities," Padang Mayor Mahyeldi Ansharullah stated in Padang, Friday.
He mentioned the culinary market tonight will be officially opened on Saturday (Oct 27) and will be located in Raya Market area which has been completed revitalized as in Simpang Kandang.
The purpose of holding evening activity is as a step of Padang to strengthen the tour for 24 hours as well as moving economy of society.
"We are trying to accommodate residents and tourists can still travel and enjoy culinary every time, including at night," he said.
Head of Trade Service of Padang Endrizal added that in addition to open the night food market, there will also hold some activities such as fashion show and gymnastics.
Fashion exhibition activities will be held at Raya Pasar from afternoon until night while gymnastics is held in the morning.
In addition, in the future there will be a variety of cultural activities such as art festivals or musical performances every night along Raya Market. (cha)
