Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The West Sumatra Provincial Government encourages villages and nagari (traditional villages) in the area to form a Village / Nagari Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) to help regional economy boosting.

"We have sent the districts and municipalities to socialize in the villages to immediately establish the BUMDes," Head of Community Empowerment and Nagari of West Sumatra, Syafrizal stated in Padang on Tuesday (Oct 10).

According to him, currently from 885 villages and nagari that receive village funds, 345 of them have established BUMDes with initial capital of around Rp50 million to Rp100 million.

In 2018 the number of BUMDes in West Sumatra should be increased because based on the Regulation of Minister of Village number 4 of 2017 concerning Permendes Amendment Number 22 of 2016 concerning the Stipulation of Village Fund Usage 2017, BUMDes / Nag activities is one of the priorities.

At least according to Syafrizal, in 2018 the number of BUMDes / Nag can reach 500 units and 2019 all villages and nagari already have that institution.

He mentioned BUMDes / Nag has a big enough role to increase the economic growth of the village if it is managed well, because it can play from upstream to downstream.

Role of the upstream for example, BUMDes can play a role to help channel various government subsidies, ranging from fertilizer subsidies, seeds and others.

While in the downstream sector, BUMDes can be collectors of products produced by village communities.

In fact, he added, BUMDes can also partner with banks to distribute people's business credit (KUR) which is now managed by government banks and some private banks.

BUMDes can also act as an inclusive financial manager such as savings and loan business which if managed well, it can increase income well enough, BUMDes can be a means of payment of water, electricity and gas.

Previously Secretary General of Ministry of Village, Development of Underdeveloped Regions and Transmigration Anwar Sanusi said at this time, there are 74 thousand villages and 18 thousand of them already have BUMDes.

It pushed until 2019, at least 50 percent of recipients of village funds already have BUMDes, because its role is considered strategic to build the economy at the village level. (cha)
