Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra in cooperation with the cycling community will hold "Siti Nurbaya Adventure" as a sporting event while promoting the existing tourist destinations in the area.

"The activity of Siti Nurbaya Adventure is done jointly with dozens of cyclists community," Padang Mayor Mahyeldi stated in Padang, on Saturday (Oct 7).

Tourism potential that will be introduced dotted in the southern part of Padang, given the route that participants will pass.

On the route of cyclists, the participants will be invited to enjoy the beauty of Old Town area, Gado-gado Hill, Air Manis Beach, and Malin Kundang Stone which is the story of the Minangkabau People.

"Besides, participants will be shown such charming scenery, natural beauty, and the expanse of sea that can be enjoyed from the hill of Gado-gado," he said.

For sports activities, Mahyeldi said, the participants will face various difficult terrain in the form of climbs and nets that decrease adrenaline rush.

Even the committee provides the category "King Of Mountain" (KOM) to participants who can go uphill in Koto Kaciak area.

The local government planned "Siti Nurbaya Adventure" event to be opened by Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrowi on October 29, 2017.

To date, organizers have recorded 1,500 participants have registered. The number is predicted to continue to grow until October 29.

Participants are not only from the city of Padang, or West Sumatra, but also from other provinces such as Jakarta, Bandung, and others.

The committee provides prizes for winners such as mountain bikes, smart telephones, and dozens of other interesting prizes.

"The activity is held free of charge to the participants. Then, at the finish point in the Office of Youth and Sports of Padang, there culinary treats for them," he said. (cha)
