Jakarta, (Antara Sumbar) - State-owned electricity company PT. PLN continuous to boost the share of renewables in its energy mix to 23 percent by 2025.
President Director of PLN Sofyan Basir noted here on Thursday (Sept 28) that the company is conducting large-scale development of renewable energy-based power plants in Java.
"PLN is developing the Cirata solar power plant, with a capacity of 200 megawatts (MW), and a power plant, with a capacity of 150 MW, in South Sukabumi," he added.
Basir said until September 2017, some 60 independent power producers that develop renewable energy-based plants have signed a power purchase agreement with PLN.
Director General of Renewable Energy of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Rida Mulyana said Indonesia has abundant renewable energy resources.
As a country located along the equator, Indonesia is blessed with at least six renewable energy resources: water, solar, geothermal, wind, bioenergy, and ocean currents.
The total energy capacity potential of the six resources is projected to reach 441.7 gigawatts (GW), of which only 8.89 GW has been developed. (*)
