Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Dompet Dhuafa "Singgalang", West Sumatra, raises humanitarian funds to help Rohingya Moslem as a form of concern.

"The fundraising is a form of our concern for the fate of oppressed for Rohingya Moslem in Myanmar," Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa "Singgalang", Defri Annas stated in Padang, Friday (Sept 22).

Currently, the collected funds are Rp33,242 million, but the number will continue to grow as fund raising is still running and moving effort to help Rohingya Moslem as much as possible.

These fund-raising activities work with various parties, open accounts, and publications. Then make a visit to schools in Padang to do educational fairy tales and love palms for spirits.

For the distribution process, it coordinates with central Dompet Dhuafa who directly plunge into the field to hand over the aid.

"Currently two teams from dhuafa are already in the location," he said.

The West Sumatra Provincial Government also opened a special account to raise funds to help Rohingyas who are victims of humanitarian tragedy in Myanmar.

Vice Governor of West Sumatra, Nasrul Abit said the account was in Bank Nagari on behalf of "Sumbar Peduli Rohingya" with number 2101.0210.05697-2.

"We invite the civil state apparatus (ASN), government relations, and the people of West Sumatra to participate aside sustenance to help Rohingya," he said.

Earlier, according to the latest UN figures showing, currently around 421 thousand Rohingya Moslems have crossed from Myanmar to Bangladesh since August 25. More than 170,000 Rohingya refugees recently arrived in Bangladesh have not received health services. (cha)
