Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Go-Jek rider in Padang Municipality, West Sumatra, Tulang (34) said that 3,000 riders will be unemployed due to the closure of the city's online transport operational office.

"Our number in the city of Padang reaches three thousand people, if it closed we will certainly lose the job," he said in Padang, Wednesday (Sept 20).

According to him the existence of Go-Jek is making thousands of people who do not have a job can be helped in earning money.

"I am a photographer and make this profession as an additional income. When there is no scheduled to do my main job, I can earn money through the online transport," he said.

According to him, many riders are helped by Go-Jek presence.

Another Go-Jek rider, Arif (24) said after graduating college he has not got a permanent job. Then he joined Go-Jek so he could earn money.

"We come from the weak economically and earn money to survive," he continued.

Previously, the Government of Padang, West Sumatra, closed the offices of Go-Jek's online transport operation, because it did not have permission from local government.

"The head of Provincial Transport Office has requested that Go-Jek's office be closed today, we will immediately coordinate with the relevant parties," Padang Transportation Secretary Yudi Indra said.

Earlier, hundreds of urban transport drivers of Padang, West Sumatra demanded transport based on the network because it makes their income is reduced.

"Online-based transport including Go-Jek is threatening our income every day. The number of passengers using the services of local transportation is much reduced," one representative of drivers, Khairison said. (cha)
