Painan, (Antara Sumbar) - Several areas in South Pesisir District, West Sumatra, were hit by floods and landslides due to heavy rainfall since Wednesday (Sept 20) morning.

"Floods occurred in some areas such as Bayang Sub-district, Coastal and Silage Coast, while landslides occurred in Siguntur, Koto XI Tarusan Sub-district," Prinurdin, head of the South Pesisir Disaster Prevention Agency (BPBD) said in Painan.

He explained that the floods in Shadows and Silaut flooded dozens of houses, especially those located adjacent to the river flow with a height of half a meter.

In the Flood Coastal Area, the bridge between the dormitory (traditional village) was interrupted at this time. His side, the police, the TNI and community tried to make emergency repairs.

While in the landslide in Siguntur is currently in the handling of Painan-Padang Sumatra Highway Contractor.

"As a result of landslides, there are several kilometers of traffic jams but the current landslide material has begun to be cleared by contractors," he said.

He mentioned from the report, there were no casualties in the incident.

It appealed to the community actively provide information related to various events that occur either to the wali nagari (village chief of customs), sub-district or directly to BPBD.

"With a quick report of course we can lower personnel and assistance as soon as possible so that losses can be minimized," he said. (cha)
