Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) Railway Operation in West Sumatra is postponed to the middle of 2018 because of The pending completion of the bridge and railbus arrival.

"The possibility of a new railbus arrived in Padang in March 2018. Operation will be done after that," West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno stated in Padang on Tuesday (Sept 19).

He said it after reviewing the readiness of railway from Padang-BIM-Pariaman with the Head of PT. KAI West Sumatra Divre Sulthon.

According to him, the operation of the train will make it easier for people from Padang to the airport and vice versa.

He hopes that the operation can be done on schedule and there is no retreat.

Meanwhile, Head of PT. KAI West Sumatra Divre, Sulthon said the railbus to be used at BIM was made by PT Kereta Api (Persero) (INKA) and it is now under construction.

It is planned that BIM train consists of two sets which is each of them having four carriages. So there are eight carriages that can serve the community.

He added before the operation, PT. KAI will do the first test of rails so there are no obstacles.

The operation of the airport train in West Sumatra has been repeatedly delayed. Initially targeted could be used 2015, then delayed to the end of 2016.

The target returns to November 2017, but remains unfulfilled.

Last target was postponed again to mid 2018. (cha)
