South Solok PDAM Supplies Clean Water For Floods Victims

Padang Aro, (Antara Sumbar) - Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) of South Solok, West Sumatra, supplies clean water for victims of floodwaters in Koto Parik Gadang Diateh Sub-District.

"We use two units of water tankers to supply clean water to the victims of flood in five jorong," Director of PDAM of South, Yalfis stated in Padang Aro, Friday (Sept 15).

He said the flash floods that hit Nagari Pakan Rabaa Tangah resulted two units of intake located in the upper reaches of Batang Lolo damaged so that it disturbs water distribution into a tub of Water Treatment Plant (IPA).

"These damaged automaticly caused the water does not flow to the consumer as usual," he said.

For improvement intake, he said, it can be done post disaster because total damage is 100 percent.

For the amount of PDAM network damage, he said, is being done by the field officer calculations.

"We will count after it was done repairs," he said.

The local health office has also set up a health post at the flooding location.

"Health posts contain nurse or midwife doctors and since early morning, they have started to serve the affected communities," Section Head Survailen, Immunization and Disaster of South Solok Health Office, Mega Sapta Tristina remarked.

She explained that officers at the post were made three shifts, ie morning, noon and night.

With three shifts, then the officers can take turns to serve disaster victims so the service is also excellent.

She said if needed the addition of posts will be made into another one.

"We will see the development of existing posts. Then, when the additional is needed, it will be done," she said.

In addition, she said, there is also a field post where health workers go around visiting sick or seriously injured people.

"We also deployed three health workers around to provide assistance to severely injured and people who unable to go to the main post," she said.

Officers who travel around this, she said, will refer directly the victims who were seriously injured in the disaster.

Yalfis also conveyed the availability of medicine will be to date sufficient to fulfill the needs of community. (cha)
