President Bestows Awards on Entities Receiving Unqualified Opinion

Jakarta, (Antara Sumbar) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has bestowed awards on five entities for having successfully maintained an unqualified opinion for five consecutive times.

"We laud the regional governments that have made constant efforts to improve the quality of their financial statements in accordance with the law," Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati remarked at the State Palace here on Thursday (Sept 14).

Unqualified opinion is an auditor's opinion of a financial statement, given without any reservations.

The five entities are the Supreme Court, Trade Ministry, West Java provincial government, Depok municipal government, and the Ogan Komering Ilir district government.

President Jokowi, accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, conferred the awards on leaders of the five entities.

"By receiving the unqualified opinion, it is expected to offer the necessary momentum to encourage the sound management of state finances to support the people's just prosperous program," the finance minister affirmed.

For the first ever, the 2016 financial statement of the central government received the best possible audit outcome, an unqualified opinion. Moreover, the number of entities receiving an unqualified opinion increased, she pointed out.

The number of ministries and non-ministerial government institutions that received an unqualified opinion for their 2016 financial statements also increased to 73 from 56 a year earlier.

Likewise, the number of regional governments receiving an unqualified opinion for their 2016 financial statements also increased to 375 from 312 the year before. (*)
